Guy Laroche- Women's Autumn/Winter 2019/20 Show in Paris (with interview)

Designer: Richard RenéInspiration: 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the founder, Guy Laroche. The designer paid tribute to his tomb and discovered a breath-taking black marble headstone that he decided to use as the central theme for his collection.Collection: Marble is transcribed on all the clothing for a collection surrounding the colour black.Grooves of stones are drawn by tracing irregular lines which become the veins of stones and Swarovski crystals for chiffon and crêpe cocktail dresses. Richard René adds cut outs like cracked stones that we see on flowing pieces. Sensuality is always embedded through transparent shirts and dresses that give us a glimpse of the body. Another model wears an elegant dress with a bare back, an eternal homage to Guy Laroche’s most famous dress.Note: Boot-trousers in knit and viscose + the big leather vinyl cape.Interview with Richard René:It’s been 30 years to the day that Guy Laroche died and I wanted to pay tribute to him. I went to see where he was buried and I saw he had a big black marble headstone so I used the black marble as a starting point for the whole collection. It uses graphism of the marble with quite technical materials. There are suit trousers and as always cocktail dresses, evening dresses and day dresses. It’s a feminine wardrobe with masculine codes.I used women as they could be individual, they have different personalities and they only had a red line on one eye which represents the red from the marble’s vein, the blood’s vein and the heart’s vein.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
