Speedo launches Chinese website as local swimwear market growths
Nottingham-based manufacturer and retailer of swimwear Speedo has announced the launch of a new website, speedo.com.cn, for the Chinese market.
The website is a first for the iconic sports label, as it represents a new form of content and e-commerce integration. It combines brand content, social media features and e-commerce functionality, making it the first Speedo brand commerce site worldwide.
The launch of a Chinese language website responds to the projected growth of the Chinese swimwear market as swim participation grows rapidly.
Speedo, part of Pentland group, said the preparation for the launch involved 18 months of collaborative work between Speedo teams from Nottingham, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, as well as teams from Pentland Brands in both London and Hong Kong.
The website is designed to display seamlessly across mobile, tablet and desktop.
