WTiN to replace ITA Asia with virtual conference

The widespread cancellation of trade shows and conferences is leading companies to take creative action and on Tuesday WTiN, an information provider to the global textile and apparel industry, announced the upcoming launch of Innovate Textile & Apparel Online, “enabling knowledge exchange and networking continuity amid the coronavirus outbreak”.

WTiN’s Innovate Textile & Apparel (ITA) Asia was originally scheduled to take place in Singapore in May, but has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Now the company’s virtual conference “will enable delegates to access the presentations remotely across multiple devices”.

It’s WTiN's first virtual conference and it said that registered users will be able to stream the presentations all in one go.

ITA Online will be available to stream from May 5 at midnight (GMT) until June 30. Around 23 presentations will be pre-recorded, with videos linked to the presentation slides. Users will be able to post questions to each presenter and can also participate in virtual networking opportunities.

We’re likely to see more such initiatives happening around conferences as industries look for new ways to access the information they’d otherwise miss. It’s a less straightforward process for trade shows, however, with the need to touch and feel products meaning physical contact is a must. This has led to a large number of this winter and spring’s events being postponed to summer and early autumn.
