Uniqlo on Thursday unveiled its first-ever campaign for Uniqlo U, the new line designed by Creative Director Christophe Lemaire that is launching this fall.

The Uniqlo U Fall 2016 campaign

The Uniqlo U campaign features two men’s looks and two women’s looks that are very in-line with Lemaire’s aesthetic. The women’s looks consist of a blue sweater dress and blue vertical textured stripe sweater, as well as a golden brown down parka and trousers and a white button down shirt. The men’s looks are very reminiscent of the Uniqlo x Lemaire collaboration and consist of a grey parka, white pullover hoody, cream turtleneck sweater and white trousers, and a full black and navy outfit featuring a long coat, sweater, t-shirt and drawstring trousers.

The Japanese retailer named Lemaire Creative Director of the Uniqlo U line in June 2016 after launching two collaboration collections in fall 2015 and spring 2016. The retailer describes the new line on its website saying, “At our Paris R&D center, our global design team − led by Christophe Lemaire − is reinventing basics to be anything but basic. Clothing that transcends trends and becomes an ideal expression of who we are.”

Lemaire is one of few designers to partner with Uniqlo joining the likes of Michael Bastian and Theory. The Uniqlo U line follows in the footsteps of the retailer’s +J line that was helmed by Jil Sander.
