Ted Baker is continuing to work its way through its troubles and on Wednesday announced the creation of a new leadership role. “Following a thorough search process,” it said Jennifer Roebuck, currently a non-executive director of the firm, will be taking up the post of Chief Customer Officer (CCO) for the business.

She has an impressive track record having been Multichannel Marketing Director at rival French Connection, and most recently, Chief Marketing Officer at Feel Unique.

Her new role will see her developing a customer and digital strategy across the business and exploring “new digital partnership opportunities to drive accelerated growth”.

And the company really needs to drive growth faster as recent periods have seen it going from one of the outperformers in UK retail to one of its highest-profile sufferers, impacted by some problems of its own making as well as the wider downturn in UK fashion retail.

Roebuck will be stepping down from her non-executive position on the Ted Baker Plc Board (and therefore as a member of the Nominations Committee) in April as a result of joining the leadership team full-time.

The company continues to search for a permanent Chair and CEO and said “this is progressing well”.

Meanwhile, Acting Chair Sharon Baylay said Roebuck’s “background in digital transformation and brand marketing, particularly in the lifestyle and clothing sector will be of huge benefit to the leadership team, as they look to position the business for future success”.
