Sorel is trying out retail. The Columbia group's shoes and boots line is looking to gain visibility this winter. It has just opened a 3,200 square foot store in Manhattan. More precisely in the Meatpacking district, at 345West 14th Street, where it is presenting its flagship models of the season with its newest collections: Slimboot, Toronto and Ankeny.

The Oregon-based brand will keep its doors open until February with its emblematic bear at the entrance and inside, and a presentation of its universe in a decor that features stark contrasts of black and white, allowing the rich textures and tones of SOREL footwear to take center stage.

The brand, whose boots are "a bold combination of fashion and outdoor and protection and style," as described by Tim Boyle, president and CEO of Columbia Sportswear, recorded an overall 23% growth in its revenue in the last quarter which closed at the end of September compared to the same period the year before. Its sales reached $58.2 million dollars.
