Silicon Valley Fashion Week? to debut in San Francisco

Published
May 6, 2015

Silicon Valley Fashion Week? hosted by Betabrand will kick off on May 12th at The Chapel in San Francisco. The three-night event will consist of runway shows and presentations that celebrate fashion and technology.

Each night has a specific theme sponsored by GenZe, Betabrand, and Shimmer: Electric Motion, Tech Wearables, and Funded Fashion, respectively. The Electric Motion theme of Night 1 will focus on commuting attire, technology, apps, electric rides, and illumination; Night 2 ‘s Tech Wearables will feature, 3D printing, and Web-connected style; and the Funded Fashion on Night 3 will involve crowdsourced designs, crowdfunding, and crowd-based entertainment.

Though SVFW will launch this month it is not the first of its kind. In June, the FashionWare Show hosted by Living in Digital Times will show wearable technology both on and off the runway.

Designers Iris van Herpen and Casely-Hayford have included wearable technology in their runway shows with the latter styling the XO Belt phone charger accessory on models and the former making 3D printed dresses.

SVFW will be held from May 12th to May 14th.
