In the role, Rougeot will be based in San Francisco and report to Christopher de Lapuente, Sephora’s global president and CEO.

Rougeot most recently served as the chief executive officer of Benefit Cosmetics, a role which he held for the past 12 years. Owned by LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics, Benefit has been a longtime retail partner of Sephora.

According to a press release, Rougeot proved himself to be a "successful brand builder in beauty and retail, both in the U.S. and internationally" as the leader of Benefit.

“[Rougeot's] extensive leadership track record, breadth of knowledge of the North American prestige beauty and retail marketplace, [and experience] as a Sephora brand partner for more than a decade, set him up to lead our teams to continue fueling our 20 year North America success story," de Lapuente said.

Prior to his work with Benefit, Rougeot also served as the president and CEO of the Coty Division of Coty Inc., in addition to serving as chairman and CEO of global retail merchandising solutions provider Diam International and as CEO of the Boyds Collection.

“Together, we will continue strengthening Sephora’s brand partnerships, innovating and delighting clients with the best experience and assortment of prestige beauty products whether they are shopping in our stores or across our outstanding digital platforms,"  Rougeot said of his new role.

The update to the beauty company's executive suite comes shortly after Sephora released its newest rollout of Beauty Insider benefits for 2019.
