Giant British events company Hyve, which rebranded from its former name ITE a few months ago, has bought US mega tradeshows Shoptalk and Groceryshop to add to its ever larger list of major events.

Las Vegas-based Shoptalk is now owned by Britain's Hyve Group

The company, which is the organiser behind Britain’s Pure London, Jacket Required, Moda and Scoop, has now added the leading US conferences in the retail, grocery and consumer packaged goods industries.

Hyve paid $145 million for its new acquisitions and said that Anil D Aggarwal and Simran Rekhi Aggarwal, Shoptalk and Groceryshop founders “and events industry disruptors for almost a decade”, are now major shareholders of Hyve.

Hyve CEO Mark Shashoua said the two new buys are “the perfect fit, consistent with our goal to acquire product-led market-leading events in large industries that have achieved significant size, secured distinct customer bases and developed compelling value propositions, and that hold tremendous opportunities for organic growth and international rollouts.”

He added that "these unmissable events share a common culture with Hyve and their acquisition delivers on our vision to create the world's leading portfolio of content-driven, must-attend events that provide outstanding experiences and return on investment for our customers.”

This year, Shoptalk and Groceryshop had over 11,500 attendees between them, including more than 1,000 CEOs, from over 50 countries as well as more than 880 exhibiting and sponsoring companies.

Shoptalk's fifth annual US event will be held on March 22-25, 2020 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
