Parisian digital tech and innovation show Vivatech, originally scheduled on June 11-13, has announced the cancellation of its 2020 edition. Since March, the organisers have been considering a variety of alternatives, but they eventually decided to stage the next edition in 2021.

“Having assessed how the situation is evolving, joint Presidents Maurice Lévy and Pierre Louette and myself  must regrettably postpone [the show’s] fifth edition to 2021,” said Julie Ranty, CEO of Vivatech.

“The economy’s various stakeholders must ensure their activities recover after the Covid-19 crisis, and we understand and respect their necessities. [Vivatech’s] fifth edition in 2021 will represent the climax of the industry's renewed drive and enthusiasm. For the time being, our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the pandemic and those who are fighting courageously to overcome this unprecedented crisis,” added Ranty.

Vivatech’s June 2019 edition showcased 13,000 start-ups and was attended by about 124,000 visitors from 125 countries, with no fewer than 450 industry leaders and specialists featuring as speakers. In four editions, Vivatech quickly established itself as a key trade event within Europe’s digital innovation calendar. It is a showcase for break-through hardware and software solutions in a variety of sectors, including the retail trade, and it is actively supported by the French government. Major French groups like LVMH also play a big part in the event.
