Hot on the heels of New York, London and Milan, Paris Fashion Week is in full swing in the French capital until March 7. Paskal, Paule Ka, Aalto, Jour/ne, Koché and Saint Laurent presented fall/winter 2017 collections on the opening day, showcasing highly diverse wardrobes channeling various themes, as well as French style. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the first day of Paris Fashion Week shows.

In general, many fashion houses brought masculine pieces or accessories to womenswear wardrobes for fall/winter 2017. Pants channeled masculine vibes on several runways, sometimes in a dandyesque style, and models wore neckties and largely walked the runways in flats on this opening day.

Sportswear was another trend seen on many runways. Continuing the idea of mixing masculine and feminine styles, labels showed some pieces that were very feminine and others with a more urban, sportswear vibe, made to suit the day-to-day lives of busy women, always on the go.

Paule Ka stood out with a highly feminine collection, exploring the history of French style, highlighting above all the inherent elegance of the busy Parisian woman with immaculate draped wool coats, neoprene dresses and metallic patent leather accessories. Eras and their different movements seemed to collide in order to serve the modern woman.

True to the label's signature codes, Saint Laurent presented a sensual and ultra-feminine collection, dominated by short-cut, low-necked and black pieces. Leather had a strong place in the collection, seen in head-to-toe looks and in small touches, while sparkles and shimmering details adorned evening dresses.
