Outdoor Voices is using augmented reality to debut the launch of its new running collection. Through the OV Trail Shop app, users can preview seams, textures and finishes, and locate running product in store.

OV's debut running collection includes a running skort, shorts and tank. The company also collaborated on a trail running sneaker with Hoka One One which are available in pink, aqua and navy.

However, Outside Voices Founder Tyler Haney said on a Facebook video feed that "you can't see [the new running collection] unless you download... the app", which is described by the OV Trail Shop website as "an augmented reality shopping experience only accessible from our favorite Recreational destinations."

To activate the collection's associated AR experience once in the app, users follow a map to one of 50 Trail Shop locations in the US. Products virtually appear in a platform similar to Pokemon Go, where consumers can then walk towards the items and put them in their virtual shopping bag.

The goal is to get people out running, downloading the app and shopping and the app claims that the AR experience "shows every seam and texture — just as if you were shopping in store."

The collection will be online in the Trail Shop for a week, but the AR retail experience only lasts for one day. Trail Shops are located across the US, both in cities where OV has a retail presence and new markets as well.

OV's running collection debuts in AR today and will roll out at retail locations in the US on April 25th, as well as online. Apparel price points range from $40 to $70 with the Hoka One One shoes retailing for $140.
