New Poundland megastore puts big focus on Pep&Co fashion

Pepco’s Poundland continues to open new stores and on Saturday opened its biggest UK location with a debut at Nottingham’s Riverside Retail Park. Importantly that store features its Pep&Co fashion offer complete with changing rooms, as well as a dedicated Rimmel cosmetics display.

It has expanded its overall category offer with a much larger foods presence, but fashion has a key part in the new location.

The store covers 150,000 sq ft in a space vacated by Arcadia’s Outfit chain and the importance of fashion to the location can be seen by the inclusion of changing rooms in a first for the chain and by the fact that a third of the space is dedicated to Pep&Co.

The budget Pep&Co line has put Poundland in the UK’s top 20 clothing retailers list less than seven years after its launch and the offer in the new store includes womenswear, menswear and kidswear. The label’s popular homewares are also available there.

Poundland has plans for more large stores across the UK, which could mean a big boost for Pep&Co clothing sales. While the label is available widely, many stores have just a small selection of basics. With the growing chain seeing more space being given over to fashion, and a consumer who’s increasingly budget-conscious due to rising inflation, it's a good time for the firm to expand Pep&Co’s availability.

We assume that the Dealz and Pepco stores in Europe that the company owns could see similar fashion-focused changes as they also sell the Pep&Co line.
