Online luxury retailers Matchesfashion and Net-A-Porter are playing a game of senior musical chairs at the moment with one of the leading lights of the latter joining Matchesfashion, while the commercial chief from the firm heads in the opposite direction for a role at Richemont-owned Net-A-Porter.

Elizabeth von der Goltz - Net-A-Porter

Net-A-Porter’s Elizabeth von der Goltz is taking on the newly-created chief commercial officer role at Matchesfashion at the same time as the latter’s commercial director Lea Cranfield prepares to become chief buying & merchandising officer at Net-A-Porter. It’s another new role and marks a return to the company for her. Cranfield is also a former Liberty and Comme des Garçons merchandising specialist.

Elizabeth von der Goltz is a key player in the Net-A-Porter operation and her move comes as Matchesfashion makes a series of director-level appointments.

She’s been Net-A-Porter’s global buying director for the last three years and is scheduled to move to her new role next year.

Von der Goltz has a global reputation in the luxury segment having also held a number of roles at Bergdorf Goodman in the US during her 14 years with the retailer.

Matchesfashion’s CEO Ajay Kavan highlighted her breadth of experience and commercial acumen, saying she will also “help get the business ready to scale” as the world emerges from the tough year caused by the pandemic.
