Since relaunching in 2011 with a first store on Paris’ rue Saint-Honoré, luxury trunk and handbag maker Moynat has undertaken the next step in its development. The company has announced a second store, set to open at 112 Mount Street in London at the end of February.

LBought by luxury giant LVMH in 2010, the French brand is betting on London’s increasing influx of tourists as it sets up shop on one of the world’s most luxurious streets. Spread across two levels, the store will house Moynat’s luggage and travel accessories for both men and women as well as a selection of accessories.

Interior architect Gwenael Nicolas at Japanese office Curiosity is behind the art deco-inspired concept.

Established in 1849 and revived in 2011, Moynat’s creative director, Ramesh Nair, cut his teeth at fashion houses Martin Margiela and Hermès.

Moynat has a special history with the British, who, at the end of the 19th century, were the company’s number one clientele, using their famed trunks to carry back their purchases from the French capital.
