H&M opens revamped Merry Hill store, adds kidswear to the mix

H&M is continuing the upgrade programme for its key UK stores with Sovereign Centros on Tuesday announcing that the brand has relaunched at the major Merry Hill mall near Dudley in the Midlands.

The refurbished flagship store, spanning 26,000 sq ft, allows H&M to expand its offer, “delivering an enhanced retail experience for Merry Hill’s visitors”.

It comes as the mall has seen over 170,000 sq ft of new deals this year. They include the signing of a 36,000 sq ft unit for leisure operator Hollywood Bowl, and new stores for Beaverbrooks, Ted Baker, HMV, and Kurt Geiger, among others.

Included in the new H&M product mix are womenswear and menswear, with kidswear also being added, “brought together by a refreshed interior design”. There are also new services on offer, including click & collect lockers and self-service checkouts.

The retailer’s investment in the revamped space also means it’s been able to add sustainable initiatives, such as garment collection and recycling.

The comprehensive refurbishment started in April and led to the retailer being housed in a temporary store at the shopping centre to ensure continuity of trade.

Alistair Winning, Asset Manager at Sovereign Centros, said: “Merry Hill has seen some significant investment this year, and it is a sign of strength that a brand of H&M’s calibre has chosen to recommit to the destination with this brilliant and extensive refurbishment. We work hard with our tenants to deliver an enhanced customer experience, as we create a distinctive retail and leisure environment that people want to come back to time and time again.”
