H&M has focused on using recycled polyester for its Fall 2019 Conscious Collection.

The Swedish fashion brand has announced the launch of the latest edition of its environmentally-focused ‘Conscious Collection' line, which sees the material -- most often made from used PET bottles -- used to create dresses, shirts, knitwear, outerwear and tailored pieces. This season's offering also features soft jersey separates crafted from organic cotton or a blend made using Tencel lyocell fibers.

"We want to use our size to lead the change towards circular and renewable fashion," said Pascal Brun, Global Sustainability Manager at H&M. "The H&M Fall 2019 Conscious Collection is an amazing example of how far we have come with technology and innovations replacing conventional materials with recycled alternatives."

The collection plays on an autumnal color palette of light neutrals and black, featuring pops of orange-red throughout, and motifs such as soft checks and animal prints. There are fashion-forward dresses but also cozy, oversized hoodies, and plenty of boxy outerwear options such as double-breasted jackets and oversized wool blend coats.

The H&M Conscious series champions responsible and ethical fashion, and is made exclusively from sustainable materials. The brand has launched multiple high-profile, eco-conscious initiatives over the last few years, such as its textile recycling scheme, which encourages shoppers to donate old clothing of any brand in return for an in-store discount, and its 'Close the Loop' collections created using recycled cotton. The group has publicly set an ‘ultimate goal' of using more sustainable or recycled materials across its entire range by the year 2030.
