Gap recently opened its first-ever GapFit store at The Beach in the Jumeirah Beach Residence section of Dubai. The store opened in partnership with Al Tayer Group.

The 966-square-foot store features a white washed wood interior inspired by beach cabins, and the store carries the full GapFit line including men’s, women’s and children’s apparel. While JBR is home to the first-ever GapFit store, the GapFit line is available at six Gap stores in the Middle East in Kuwait, Bahrain and Dubai.

Gap is expanding its presence in the Middle East, but the company continues to struggle globally. In November, the company announced plans to close 65 stores, which is an increase of 15 stores from its previous forecast. Also, Gap’s most recent financial quarter marked as its seventh straight quarterly sales decline. The Gap and Banana Republic brands struggle, but Old Navy continues to perform well quarter-over-quarter.

In addition to Gap, Al Tayer Group has partnerships with Diane von Furstenberg, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, and David Yurman among others.
