The French retailer has chosen Matthieu Caloni, formerly with LVMH and Histoire d’Or, for the post of Director of Strategy and Transformation of the Galeries Lafayette and BHV Marais department stores.

Matthieu Caloni will become a member of the executive committee, working alongside CEO Nicolas Houzé. His mission will be "to provide a firm basis for the ongoing transformation of the company's management approach," stated the group.

This desire to change already translated itself last September in the choice of a new logo and slogan. The group also launched its first outlet store successfully, and boosted the sales of BHV Marais after an in-depth overhaul. The product range was not neglected either, with the appointment in January of Laëtitia Ivanex, formerly with Les Prairies de Paris, as Creative Director for women's ready-to-wear.

Matthieu Caloni is a graduate of the ESSEC business school, and since 2014 was Director of Strategy and Development for the Thom Europe group, owner of long-standing brands Histoire d’Or and Marc Orian. He formerly worked for the Boston Consulting Group. He began his career in 1998 at LVMH, where he took charge of the Japanese market for the Dom Pérignon brand.

The Galeries Lafayette group operates a network of 280 stores, with the retail brands Galeries Lafayette, BHV Marais, Louis Pion, Royal Quartz and Didier Guerin. The company has a staff of 15,000 and claims daily store visits by one million customers, generating sales worth €3.8 billion.
