Iconic British apparel brand Fred Perry has teamed up with Merseyside-born musician Miles Kane on a 70s-inspired capsule revisiting classic pieces from the original sportswear label’s archive.

The collection’s centrepiece is a black tricot tracksuit, Kane’s interpretation of the sportswear essential that references Fred Perry’s 60 years of heritage.

The brand’s classic polo shirts have also been revised for the capsule, and are available in piped piqué, tipped piqué and knitted pointelle styles, in burgundy, black, light blue and white. The tipped version features a subtle tonal twin tipping on an oversized collar, a nod to the collection’s 70s inspirations.

Other pieces include bowling shirts, textured piqué t-shirts, a two-toned knitted shirt with a zip collar, and a silk scarf. All pieces feature the Fred Perry laurel wreath logo in gold.

Kane, who was named as one of Britain’s 50 best dressed British men by GQ in 2015 and is a long-time Fred Perry fan, was born in Birkenhead, Wirral but currently lives in LA. The capsule aims to channel his personal style which combines influences from his youth growing up in the North of England and his new home in the US.

Fred Perry was founded by the tennis champion of the same name in 1952 and went on to attain cult status in the 60s when its emblematic polo shirt became popular with British mods. Since then, the brand has been adopted by subcultures the world over and has enjoyed particular success on the indie music scene. This latest collaboration with Kane, who is a solo artist and member of English indie supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets, fits perfectly within the brand’s universe.

The Fred Perry x Miles Kane capsule is available now in selected Fred Perry stores and online via the brand’s e-commerce platform.
