Frasers Group has unveiled ambitious plans for the Republic of Ireland with a Flannels opening in Dublin that will be its first Flannels location outside of the UK.

This is what Flannels in Dublin will look like

As well as that flagship in Ireland’s capital city, it will also open two other Flannels branches and two Frasers department stores.

Over the past two years, the group has committed to 500,000 sq ft of vacant space in Ireland and is to open Frasers locations in Newbridge and Cork, both of them in former Debenhams buildings.

The Flannels Dublin branch will be in the landmark former Clerys Department store on O’Connell Street. Originally built in 1853, Clerys was one of the world's first purpose-built department stores, and is now set to become a new mixed-use development as Clerys Quarter.

The two other branches of Flannels planned for Ireland are in Cork and Blanchardstown. The three of them are set to debut next winter and the following spring.

As for the Frasers branches, they’ll open in late summer this year. The company said they will “bring a consequential boost to the shopping centres they exist within. The Frasers concept, which has proven successful with the opening of Frasers Wolverhampton in 2021 and our significant renovations of Rushden Lakes, Derry and Belfast, will offer the best in beauty, fashion, and premium and contemporary accessories”.

It’s certainly good news for landlords with former department stores often difficult to let because of their large size.
