The Amsterdam-based Fashion for Good is a global operating platform for sustainable innovation in the fashion industry. The platform collaborates with brands, suppliers and retailers on a number of programmes, one of which is a ‘Scaling Programme,’ which provides support to circular apparel and footwear innovations. By partnering with the Dutch platform, Zalando will have the opportunity to become involved at an early stage with innovators focusing on the future of fashion.

In addition, the e-tailer will have the opportunity to offer scouting and screening support to the new innovations. In collaboration with other corporate partners, Zalando will also participate in the selection of new brands and provide expertise and mentorship to upcoming circular apparel companies.

Katrin Ley, Managing Director, Fashion for Good, said in a statement: “Our mission at Fashion for Good is to bring together the entire fashion ecosystem to re-imagine the way fashion is designed, made, worn and reused. We are excited to welcome Zalando to our network so we can continue accelerating the transition to a circular fashion industry.”

Dennis Hoenig-Ohnsorg, Team Lead Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility at Zalando added, “We believe that using new technologies will increase transparency in our industry significantly. We are determined to find our role in accelerating this process for the good of all."

Other programmes of Fashion for Good include the Plug and Play Accelerator, a 12-week programme that supports start-ups with funding and knowledge to further grow their business. And the Good Fashion Fund currently in development, which will offer grants to support sustainable production methods.

Fashion for Good was founded in 2017 by founding partner, fashion retailer C&A. The platform’s programs are supported by corporate partners C&A, Galeries Lafayette Group, Kering and Zalando, as well as organisations including the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, IDH – the Sustainable Trade Initiative, Impact Hub Amsterdam, McDonough Innovation, Plug and Play and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
