E-commerce: Spreadshirt enters Rakuten

The German personalised clothing and accessories specialist has taken the next step in its international deployment, having now entered the US platform of Japan's online marketplace Rakuten.

It's the brand's next move after featuring its range on eBay's German and US versions, as well as on Amazon in France, Germany, the UK and the US. It's no surprise then that Rakuten, the world's 3rd largest online retailer, decided to add Spreadshirt to the 17 million products it offers its 18 million US users.

"Each marketplace has its own orientation and is targeted to a specific audience," explains Tino Liebitch, Spreadshirt's marketplace director. "In response to our customers' needs and in line with Rakuten.com's policy, we chose to start offering a limited number of products on the Rakuten/Priceminister platform."

In the 2014 fiscal year, Spreadshirt reported €71.95 million in revenue. A stable number compared to 2013, with a greater concentration of sales during the festivities period.
