In 2014, Desigual opened a location on the Grand Rue in Luxembourg. It is unlikely, however, that the country will become a major country for the Spanish brand’s business.

On the other hand, with openings in Canada and Peru last year, the Catalans now have a presence in 109 countries with 526 stores. Its business also relies on 8,000 multibrand retail locations and 2,800 corners in department stores.

Added to this is a website active in 22 countries, having recently been introduced to Canada and Russia - not to mention its agreements with major online players, such as Tmall in China since last August.

With this wide range of distribution, Desigual saw its turnover reach 963.5 million euros in 2014, 20% of which was generated in Spain. The brand said in a statement that its sales in the five major European markets saw double-digit growth. Its growth in Asia, led by the Japanese market meanwhile, reached 24%.

Desigual, which currently has eight product categories, including Woman, Man, Kids, Accessories, Shoes, Living, Sports and Beauty, saw its Ebitda increase by 8% at 261.5 million euros. Desigual’s net profit, meanwhile, rose by 3% to 135 million euros, but the brand posted a strong 14% net margin.
