Cloud Nine has partnered with CleanHub and Green Worms to allow the hair and beauty brand “to continue to reduce its plastic footprint, support communities, and make a positive impact on the planet”.

To that end, Cloud Nine said it has personally committed to collecting 1,000 kg of plastic this year, “more than we produce for our styling products globally”.

And to widen its sustainability spectrum, the company has chosen partners CleanHub, which works with a global network of waste specialists, helping to recover plastic before it makes its way into our seas and oceans, and Green Worms, which performs door-to-door collection services across southern India and works with female self-help groups to tackle plastic pollution and poverty, creating jobs in local communities.

Commenting on its latest green initiatives, Martin Rae, CEO of Cloud Nine, said: “Customers can be safe in the knowledge that [we] are plastic responsible and whenever they buy our [products] they’re supporting [CleanHub] and helping to reduce plastic waste in our oceans. Our collection progress can be tracked via our live impact report.”

He added: “This new partnership builds on initiatives we have already introduced, including low carbon shipping, recyclable packaging, tree planting and a hair tool recycling scheme – which is the only one of its kind in our industry. Our aim is to be a leader – to shake up the industry on plastic responsibility, waste management and recycling.”

Joel Tasche, CEO of CleanHub added: “Cloud Nine already has some fantastic initiatives in place and is committed to operating as a kinder, greener, business. We can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us in the future.”
