Benetton is bubbling for its forthcoming big debut. The Italian ready-to-wear label will feature for the first time on the Milanese catwalks, on the opening day of the women’s fashion week on Feb. 19. The show, included in the official calendar of events for the Milan Fashion Week, will be the occasion to present the work of designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

The French designer, who previously worked for other Italian labels like Iceberg and Max Mara, and was in charge of his own fashion house between 1978 and 2016, was appointed creative director for the men's and women's collections of United Colors of Benetton last October. His appointment is a key element in the relaunch of the Italian fashion group, since last year once again overseen by one of its original founders, Luciano Benetton.

It is not the first time that Benetton has taken to the catwalks: in 2006, it picked Paris to celebrate its 40th anniversary, staging a major show at the Beaubourg centre.

“That was a rather special anniversary show/event. Next February will be our first ever fashion week show,” a spokesperson for the group told FashionNetwork.com.
