Is it the sign of a new era for the Backcountry.com group? Jill Layfield, its CEO since 2011, recently announced on her Facebook page that she has left the group, reports American media site SportsOneSource.

Backcountry.com is losing its CEO - Backcountry.com

The executive had been part of the Backcountry.com management team since 2004. As such, she played a role in the development of one of the major e-commerce sites dedicated to outdoor activities in the United States. The group even purchased the similar German site Bergfreunde.de two years ago.

This past July, Backcountry.com was acquired by private-equity firm TSG Consumer Partners after being sold by Liberty Interactive Corp for $350 million. Owner of the online fashion retail site Revolve, the firm has not yet announced what it has in store for Layfield's replacement.

Two-time American Olympic champion and Co-Founder of the company, Jim Holland is still the current President of the company.
